MORE THAN WORDS (MTW) is a unique non-profit, youth run bookstore, art gallery, and community center. We are a community space, and regularly host special events such as monthly OPEN MICs, weekly Real Poetry Workshop, weekly Study Nights, weekly Story Time, and weekly Game Nights. We also host author readings/signings.
The MTW MOVEMENT is proving to the world that youth are MORE THAN WORDS! There are many stereo-types regarding youth today, but here at MTW, we shatter those stereo-types by taking charge of our own lives, by taking charge of a business. We work as a team to learn leadership and enterpeneurial skills. We are respectful professionals that care about providing youth at risk with the skills neccessary to succeed. Ways to Get Involved. MTW is able to generate 50% of the money neccessary to operate, but still relies on grants, donations, as well as volunteers to be able to execute our mission of providing an outlet for youth at risk. All of our events are open to the public, and we appreciate all who donate books, coordinate book drives, volunteer at the store, and volunteers that run workshops.
